Foster-to-Adopt

So You’re thinking aBout adopting but want to foster the cat first…this is the program for you!

Our Foster-to-Adopt Program is available for cats who are not a good fit in our lounge. These cats are available to be fostered before their adoption is finalized. Since you are not able to meet the kitty first, we offer a foster period of seven days for you to see if it's a good fit. You will take them home and get to know their personality over the week. If after seven days all is going well, we would finalize the adoption paperwork.

The cats in the lounge at The Catcade are not available for Foster-to-Adopt. Only the cats listed on this page are available for FTA.

If there is a cat below that interests you, please email Christine at adopt(at)thecatcade.org

Coleman (black - male) and Zoey (tuxedo - female) - 2.5 years old

Looking for the sweetest cats? Look no further. This brother-sister duo loves all things snuggles. They’ll happily cuddle up with one another and their humans. Zoey will even come if she’s called to join you on the couch for a cozy couch sesh. When super happy and comfortable, Coleman will even drool. Equal parts cuddly, playful, curious, and loving, they’d make a good fit in almost any home. They’ve previously lived with you children and got along very well. They love to wrestle with one another and would be fine in a house with other young cats. Coleman is more outgoing initially, but once comfortable, Zoey will get right up next to you for some real affection.

They are bonded and will need to be adopted together.

Pigeon (female) & Buffalo (male) - 10 months old

Would you believe me if I told you this was two different cats? Look closely and you can see the difference, one weighs .1 lbs more than the other. Their similarities though are what bond them. This brother and sister duo came to us from a partner shelter where they were for quite some time. The two of them were very shy and were passed over by rescues and adopters until we said yes to them. Buffalo is the more outgoing of the two and is a champion world snuggler. Pigeon is more playful and absolutely loves to play with a wand toy. She’ll come over to greet you when you arrive home and rub all against your legs.

Pigeon and Buffalo will need a quiet home with someone willing to be patient as they settle in. They’ll reward your patience with plenty of cuteness.

Mango Tango - male, 2 years old

Honestly petitioning this guy to be named Wango Tango because he’s an all day and night kind of party. He loves to play and is learning how to do that appropriately. He lives with four foster cats who put up with his party boy antics. He’s a very loving cat and enjoys a good cuddle session with his people. Mango Tango also enjoys being picked up and held. He does need some help redirecting his play behavior when he gets overstimulated.

Mango Tango’s ideal home would be one with a tolerant kitty, or two, that enjoy wrestling and can teach how how to play. He’s like a level 2 cat so a better match with someone who understands cats.

Idaho Baked Potato - male, 6 years old

My favorite food group, this thic boy is gooey goodness. He has a medium amount of energy and enjoys playing with robotic toys, specifically the electronic flopping fish. He likes to show off his throwing skills and can flick that fish almost to the ceiling. When not playing, he is a sucker for snuggles. Don’t fall for victim to his belly-rub pleas because that’s exactly the trap he’s trying to get you to fall into.

Idaho Baked Potato’s ideal home would be one where he can be the only kitty.

Kasha - female, 1 year old - FIV+

This woodland creature a rare one seen only in the Lakeview area of Chicago. At just about a year old, this sweet girl is a bit shy at first but once she feels settled, she’s going to be your best buddy. Kasha is full of energy and loves to run back and forth showing off her athletic skills. She needs to be adopted with a friend because she has a good amount of energy!

Medical costs: $100

Jason (black, male 1 year old) & Dice (orange, male, 2.5 years old)

I mean, what am I even supposed to say at this point? We put these two cats in a foster home together and they’ve been glued to one another ever since. LOOK AT THEM. These boys can be a little shy at first, but once they’ve settled in, they get along with everyone. Jason is a bit of a daredevil and counter surfer, which we all know is normally orange cat behavior.

They must be adopted as a pair (I mean look at them, what monster would split them up?!) and can be adopted into a home with or without other cats.

Medical costs: $100 each

Ouija Board - female, 14 years old

I love seeing older women represented in the media. 80 for Brady, Mamma Mia (1 not 2), and the Real Housewives franchises are just a few of the classics where we get to see women in their prime. Just like my girl Ouija Board. We don’t get to see a ton of senior gals gracing our website so I hope you can all appreciate her. Ouija Board is as sweet as they come and will purr alongside you. She’s still has a decent amount of energy and loves being around her people.
