Foster-to-Adopt

So You’re thinking aBout adopting but want to foster the cat first…this is the program for you!

Our Foster-to-Adopt Program is available for cats who are not a good fit in our lounge. These cats are available to be fostered before their adoption is finalized. Since you are not able to meet the kitty first, we offer a foster period of seven days for you to see if it's a good fit. You will take them home and get to know their personality over the week. If after seven days all is going well, we would finalize the adoption paperwork.

The cats in the lounge at The Catcade are not available for Foster-to-Adopt. Only the cats listed on this page are available for FTA.

If there is a cat below that interests you, please email Christine at adopt(at)thecatcade.org

Little Bunny Foo Foo - female, 5 years old - FeLV+

This sweet girl has been with us for nine months without any interest. Likely because of those four letters after her name: FeLV. Foo Foo is positive for Feline Leukemia Virus, which may sound scary, but generally just means she has a delicate immune system. She acts, snuggles, and plays just like any other cat, but is immunocompromised. Her adopters will simply need, need to be more proactive care and bi-annual vet visits. Living indoors and having regular health checks can allow FeLV+ cats to thrive.

She can be a bit shy at first but when she feels comfortable, she’s the life of the party. She loves to be held, snuggle, and will purr almost instantly. Little Bunny Foo Foo likes to hang out on the couch and in laps of her people (as wonderfully demonstrated in her photo gallery). When she’s feeling playful, there’s nothing she loves more than a wand toy. Little Bunny Foo Foo can jump and leap in the air with the best of them. She also enjoys belly rubs and hanging in pillow forts and would make a good companion for anyone looking for a snuggly companion.

Medical costs: $100

Coleman (black - male) and Zoey (tuxedo - female) - 2.5 years old

Looking for the sweetest cats? Look no further. This brother-sister duo loves all things snuggles. They’ll happily cuddle up with one another and their humans. Zoey will even come if she’s called to join you on the couch for a cozy couch sesh. When super happy and comfortable, Coleman will even drool. Equal parts cuddly, playful, curious, and loving, they’d make a good fit in almost any home. They’ve previously lived with you children and got along very well. They love to wrestle with one another and would be fine in a house with other young cats. Coleman is more outgoing initially, but once comfortable, Zoey will get right up next to you for some real affection.

They are bonded and will need to be adopted together.

Medical costs: $100 each

Pigeon (female) & Buffalo (male) - 10 months old

Would you believe me if I told you this was two different cats? Look closely and you can see the difference, one weighs .1 lbs more than the other. Their similarities though are what bond them. This brother and sister duo came to us from a partner shelter where they were for quite some time. The two of them were very shy and were passed over by rescues and adopters until we said yes to them. Buffalo is the more outgoing of the two and is a champion world snuggler. Pigeon is more playful and absolutely loves to play with a wand toy. She’ll come over to greet you when you arrive home and rub all against your legs.

Pigeon and Buffalo will need a quiet home with someone willing to be patient as they settle in. They’ll reward your patience with plenty of cuteness.

Medical costs $100 each

Sergeant Sprinkles - 1.5 years old, female

The Sarge, as we lovingly call her, is only a drill sergeant for one thing: playing. She demands you watch her show off her sprinting skills when she runs down the hallway. She’s fast AF boi! Once she shows off her sprints, it’s time for the high jump. She is an expert at catching wand toys, especially ones with feathers. Perhaps her best skill though, is her fetching. She loves to bring things back that you throw. A true athlete, she takes her recovery seriously and will cuddle up right next to you in the bed or on the couch for some rest. And like her pictures show, she loves blankets and is even keen for a belly rub!

Sergeant Sprinkles would do best as the only cat in the home.
